The United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF) has announced the opening of its 2012 Scholarship Program.

Students studying geospatial intelligence or a related field are encouraged to submit their applications by the April 20 deadline. Graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students can download applications here. Rio Grande Chapter Technical Tour to the Earth Data Analysis Center

On Friday, March 3, 2012, members of the Rio Grande Chapter of the ASPRS participated in a technical tour of the Earth Data Analysis Center (EDAC), located at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. This tour was part of a new series of technical tours initiated by the Rio Grande Chapter. The tours are intended to broaden the membership’s knowledge and understanding of geospatial activities being conducted in New Mexico. Furthermore, they provide an opportunity expose the wider geospatial community to the members and activities of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.  Continue reading »

 

AAG’s Practicing Geography book is now published! 

Co-edited by Ken Foote right here in Colorado (and Michael Solem, CU graduate) and contributed to by several in the geospatial community.  I, Tina Cary, and others wrote chapters in what I believe is a very practical but also research-supported book on what it really means to DO geography, with excellent ties throughout to the importance of all things geospatial and GIS!

The chief audiences for the book includes undergrad and graduate students—how to get internships, how to connect with the profession, and so on.
